So at my job (which btw I will have to devote a full post to one of these days because it is absolutely the best job I've had in my life thus far), my manager has us carry around a 8.5 by 11 "cheat" page of the activities going on at the property on a weekly basis. Unless we have completely memorized every event, this cheat sheet needs to be glued to our body at all times. That way, if anyone were to stop and ask questions about events, we could actually answer questions and seem informed. Plus, nothing looks worse then mumbling out a meesly "uhhhhh.. I don't know..." to a guest of a luxury, 5 star, world renowed resort.
Because it is summer, there is no reason that I should not be posting on here more. I am so humbly honored by all the positive feedback I received for my last post and have been thinking about what to write next. This cheat sheet from work gave me an idea to perhaps write a small cheat sheet about myself. Now, the things I am about to share may or may not be the most important, pervailing life facts or secrets. Plus, I always suck at filling out those applications or question sheets that say "describe yourself in 250 words or less."
And on a side note, if some of you stumbled across this post hopeing to find some justification to cheat on your significant other, your next math test, tax report or diet, sorry, keep looking...
So in no particular order, here is a July 2012 edition of the Lydia Kravchuk cheat sheet:
1. When I drive alone, I listen to all the Pop Latino music channels and try to sing along to the songs. It is my brief attempt to not forget my spanish. I can usually figure out the jist of the song... Usually...
2. I was born in Riga, Latvia (NOT Russia) and my family is not a part of the Russian KGB, mafia, mob, etc. etc. The confusing part is that Russian was my first language, and I'm not actually Latvian. The problem is that the communists took over way too much landmass and created a huge USSR empire and a whole bunch of countries got crammed in. My dad was born in current day Ukraine and my mom was born in currrent day Belarus, so I am not really sure what that makes me. Its just easier to say "Russian" when people ask instead of explaining the entire history of the Soviet Union. However, people frequently ask me if I am Persian, Indian, Brazilian, Hawaiian, Asian or Polynesian.
3. My family is my cornerstone, backbone, lifeline, and foundation. "Family" includes: 2 sets of grandparents, my mama, my papa, my one and only sister Elizabeth, my mom's 3 sisters (+their spouses), my mom's brother (+ his wife) and 3 younger cousins. They all live in California which makes life a whole lot easier and we get together all the time, and we are all kinda obsessed with each other (in the most positive way possible).
4. The phrase I would use to describe my life is "catch me if you can." When I am not studying, I am working full time and when I am not working, I am doing something that is somehow interelated to my family. My uncle's started their own elderly homes (http://acaresb.com/) so we all pitch in and do whatever we can, whenever we can. It comes down to the fact that as of current day, I do not have anyone more important than my family in my life, and they will always be the VIPS on my priority list.
5. Something I really really really appreciate in others is thoughtfulness. I cannot put into words how much thoughtful little things that speak to me. Its gestures like a cup of coffee on a super early morning, a cookie on a really busy day, a clean kitchen. a car wash, a surprise visit... I constantly feel like I am the one planning and preparing things and for someone to actually surprise me and give me a little break means the world. Second trait would be assertiveness. There are just way too many people who do not speak up in relationships. It is more than okay to be a quiet person, but no one has an excuse to not fight for a relationship or friendship. I wish I could read minds, but I can't, so for my sake it is always appreciated when thoughts are verbally spoken.
6. I'm really big on trying new foods and resturants. I love scouting out new places to dine and play. I will eat almost anything. I say 'amost' because I was once in a group meeting, and we were going around in a circle introducing ourselves and I told the group that I would be willing to try anything, and one person, promptly lifted up their foot and asked "a shoe?" So I am going to claify and say that I stick to food items only.
7. I know they say "never say never" but I am going to knock on wood and say that I have actually never held a grudge against someone. I don't really get upset at people for their actions; I get upset that they aren't properly using their potential. I feel sad when people aren't being the people that they could be.
8. I have done 2 pagaents in my life and one of them included a work-out portion, that was filmed, and then replayed for an entire year on the Santa Barbara local channel. How kind of them!
Well, that was fun. I guess this is slightly over 250 words but hopefully it helped. This is probably the one and only time cheating is morally allowed.
Cheat a little,
xoxox. Lydia
