When life gives you lemons….

…. you make lemonade right? Well, then I am giving in and making lemonade. Lemon cayenne agave lemonade that is. Its sweet with a kick of sass, kind of like my personality ;).
In all seriousness though, the next 2 weeks will be a challenge for me. I'd probably be happier making lemon bars or something. But after a few weeks of dwelling on it and a little push from my church's 40 day fast mission, I've decided to give my body, mind and soul a cleansing and a re-start. Call me crazy, and some of you have, but the master cleanse is something that has been put on my heart. It's not for everyone and in no way do I claim to be a licensed professional but with my past experiences, it works.
At first glance, it's quite illogical. Lemons, syrup, pepper, tea and water is all you get for how ever many days you commit to (the minimum amount is 10 days). Trust me, it's a mental battle above all. You feel out of touch of reality when you aren't able to delight in eating out, popcorn at the movies or a grande vanilla latte. But 10 days + 3 days of "easing out" = wow, I feel a whole lot better. I've just been feeling like, well, crap. Somethings wrong and it's time to fix it.

More importantly than working the psychical is working on the mental and spiritual parts of our bodies. Have you ever realized how much we spend on eating and food? Theres the grocery shopping, the prepping, the cooking, the serving, the actual consuming and then the clean up. Don't get me wrong. I love all of that. I mean, I'm slavic, we do everything with food. Even if you're not hungry, you still make food. Its pretty impolite to just serve cookies with tea, you better be making a 10 course meal. "Light dinner" is pretty much an oxymoron in a Slavic person's dictionary.
Additionally, the other week my pastor, Miles McPhearson, was saying how don't eat for a day and you'll realize just how much you need God. You don't realize how much you need God til God is all you have. Fasting is a decision you can make if you feel called to do so. There are all types of fasts and while I can't commit to completely stop eating, I can commit to this.
I've done this cleanse before, twice actually and the first 3 days… well they suck. Your stomach makes funny noises and even that piece of gum on the bottom of your shoe looks tempting. Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get the point. Yet, after those 3 days, you start to feel refreshed and renewed. You get all this energy you knew you never had, and it just gets easier from there. All you have to do is mentally tell yourself you can do it and then a little support and a little prayer will get you through this. You still consume at least 1200-1500 calories a day and while its not a 100% balanced diet, the proof is in the pudding (or maybe lemonade). You feel awesome. You may still think I'm crazy and thats fine. But I promise, it serves its purpose.
Physical body stuff aside, what I am looking forward to in the next two weeks is to focus on and have more quite time between just me and God. Since I'll have more time, I can dedicate some of this time to him and see that maybe through all my struggles He's been sending me a message that I haven't been able to hear. I'll keep y'all updated, and I promise this isn't going to kill me. Also, maybe it will give me all the more reason to write because I've really missed this and reading all y'alls messages.

Happy Sunday!

Also, if you really want to read about this potion I'll be chugging around for the next 10 days, here's a link to a PDF of the original book written by the original creator of the cleanse:
